  • Power Steering?

    I mst be blind..
My car sounds like its low on power steering fluid.
Between the tank for that and the tranny fluid I cant find either of those.
Can anyone lend me a hint on where to find them?

      Re: Power Steering?

Power steering is right in front of the coolant expansion tank.

Transmission level is get under the car and pull the filler plug off and make sure it is to the bottom of the hole. Don't think you want to do that on a regular basis.

I'm pretty sure the power steering has a picture of a steering wheel or something on it, or its labelled... I never had any trouble identifying them and I don't know jack about power steering.

Lol, yeah me and the lack of car knowledge..
However I turned out to be right with it being low!
Is there any specific fluid a 2001 Jetta uses?
Its a fluorecent green color if that makes any difference...

              Re: Power Steering?

Use VW power steering fluid. Stop by SCFC and I can top it off for you. If you have a power steering leak, I wouldn't leave it too long or you'll be looking at some serious repairs. Either the rack and pinion, power steering pump or both!

                  Re: Power Steering?

It's a sealed system. so if it's low you have a leak. I work Monday to Friday at SCFC. PM me when you get a chance and I will give you my cell number so you can give me a shout when you plan to stop by.
