Does everyone have a CEL here with an aftermarket downpipe?

You mean, is it on all the time? I don't think that should happen... should it?

My friend had this problem w/ his escort (ya, I know) when he installed a DP. It was his 02 sensor that set it off so you may have bumped the O2 sensor or something during the install, it might be that.

The guy at concept1 was saying the downpipe was running too efficient, which means it was running at a lower temperature therefore throwing the code. Its just annoying seeing it everyday =) And the dealership will freak out as usual.... DIE NORTHLAND DIE.

Whoa thats a lot of hate

There's gotta be a way to keep the CEL from coming on... isn't there? I would also be annoyed by that. Not to mention you might want your CEL to work if you have an actual engine problem...

ive heard many things on the vortex about the CEL coming on from a downpipe. some people get the CEL, some people don't.

it's the luck of the draw, its just like an intake. some people get CEL's, some dont. I know on my old golf, I got a CEL always..

Not Yet. I'm gonna wait till I have my catback installed and then see.

You might of messed up an o2 sensor. I would check them. If there ok (not dented or unplugged) i wouldnt worry about it if it still runs fine.
