I might have to try that, never had that problem with any of my other cars.

Re: looking into a mk4 gti

I've had my 04 1.8T for almost two years now. One day when I was driving to Banff, the drivers side window dropped into the door. I got out, pushed it back up and it stayed there. It's worked fine since then. I'm getting VW to take a look though when I get my next maintenance next week. Also Last week when we had really wet streets I ran out of windshield wash. When I went to put some in, the plastic handle that pops out from under the hood was missing. So checking the oil and changing the washer fluid has been done with needle nose pliers even since. This should also be fixed next week.

That's the only two problems I've had with the car so far. The service bills are pretty high at times but that's just something you have to deal with.

Overall, I love it. I've always been a hatchback fan so this car was perfect for me. It sucks trying to fit drums or a guitar cabinet into a trunk or back seat.

The first time I drove it and the turbo kicked in, I had to have it. Sometimes I wish I had just one more gear though.

VW bulbs are installed with the filliment laying horizontally as oppossed to vertically in most vehicles, lots'a bumps can brake it. bad design. but for $2.60, whoppty do.

I also owned 2 MK4s a while back, a 2001 Golf 1.8T and a 2002 GTI 337 and never had any issues with them during my ownership, granted was not too long, maybe 3 years total.
