It really is lame that its not coming to Canada, but this R32 doesnt really stand out as much as the MK4 IMO. The styling of this MK5 R32 is kinda disappointing to me as it doesnt realy pop like the MK4 R32 did compared to standard MK4's.
When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.
Kind of a disappointment, I agree the Mk4 R32 was more significant. Really this is barely more than a regular GTI. And when you think that the 2.0T is used in the S3 for what... 265hp? And the R32 engine in this makes 245hp. Thats ridiculous. The 2.0T is obviously good to ~300hp and lighter, with nice power delivery... R32 cosmetics aren't that outstanding either...
Consider that the OLD rivalry was R32 vs evo vs STI
Now if you put this up against the Evo X or new STI it is going to look silly.
actually this r32 has about 10 more hp then the old ones. the most obvious thing is that it is really good on a track, 3 seconds faster then the old r32!

that must be largely due to independent rear end, no?

Personally I think the car is very nice, I would love to have something in Deep Blue Pearl and the V6 with 4-motion is a great performer straight out of the box, versus a modded 2.0T might be a battle, I just we had the choice!
