  • New Tires

    Well guys,

After debating on going with new 18" wheels or sticking with my Longbeach 17" , cost wise I think I'll just stick with my Longbeachs, I still think they are a great looking rim.

In that case I then had to decide which summer tires to get.
I was initially looking at the Kumho 712's and the Dunlop 901's
After reading on Tireracks user reviews,, quite a few people were stating that the tires were noisey especially after some wear on them. I didn't want to spend that much
on tires to begin with, but you know sometimes you have to just fork over the cash to get a better result.

So I decided to go with the Yokohama ES100

    It's rated at #4

I should have them on by Wednesday since he had to bring some in for me.

What ya guys think ? :ed: :whipped:

They look very similar to my Michelin Pilot Sports in tread pattern which are very good tires. Dry they rock wet they are very good but I find if you hit some standing water they hydroplane easily.

Nevertheless I am sure you will find them very good, Yokohama's are always good. Let us know when you get them on!!

I have been told by 2 people that the AVS ES100 is the best value for a high performance summer tire. Good choice! Do you mind if I ask how much more those cost than the Kumhos you were looking at?

with install everything , gst ,, total..

        Kumho' s around $675
        Dunlops's around $770

        Yoko's are around $1000

so ya it's like $250 upgrade cost,,

but much better tire,, in my opinion.

          $1000 - $675 = $325

Ouch! That hurts! I am sure that the Yokos are better but I am not sure if they are $325 better... Whats the life of the tires compare at? I could justify this if they lasted longer maybe...

            already checked with Mytires.ca

he wanted $40 more for the yoko's

If you read the Tirerack user reviews..
the majority say the the Kuhmo's are noisy..
            I hate that.

I don't really see anyone saying that about the
            Yoko's

oh well,, i know it's more..

The ES100s were my 2nd choice after researching several hours. I didn't buy them simply because need at least a hint of snow traction when we get those July/Sept snowfalls or while traveling through the mountains. As long as you never ever drive on ice, those tires are great.

Just got my Yoko's installed today at 4pm..

All I can say is they look sweet!
Definitely makes the car look more aggressive.

I havn't really put them through the paces yet.
I"m suppose to take it easy for the first 100km,
because of the silicon they apply to the tire.

Didn't get a chance to take a digi pic ,,
Hopefully I'll get a chance to post some pics tommorrow.
