  • I got my first CEL..

    I noticed my check engine light came on today, stays on solid, been on all day. The car seems to run fine, was wondering if anyone has a vag-com that was willing to scan it?

    Also, sometimes recently the car will stall when im slowing down for a stop sign or something, it just dies. Im not sure if this has anything to do with it?

    Thanks for any help!!

    Could be MAF sensor.

      Certainly sounds like the symptoms of a faulty MAF sensor
      1) 2007 Candy white MKV GTI. DSG, votex kit, 19" Privat netz, tinted tails, smoked side markers & mirror signals, 20% tint, TT stubby, APR sport 3" turbo back exhaust, ABD stage 2 cold air intake. GONE.
      2) 1993 Green Corrado VR6. ABD intake. FK Silverline coils, Zimmerman cross drilled & slotted rotors. GONE.

        i was going to give an opinion???
        go to the dealer and get it scanned,pay the 100.00 dollars........................
        after dealing with all the after market repair shops i'am sick and tired of all their ********..at least a dealer will stand for what you pay for.
        OH MY GOD THEY CHARGE 20.00 DOLLARS MORE...L.O.L.

            When I bought my car (05 TDI) they told me that a solid CEL means you can drive to the dealer/shop to get it looked at (but don't wait weeks before going); and a flashing CEL means turn the car off and call a tow truck. I would guess that's consistent with all mk4's, but maybe someone who is sure of this can chime in.

                good to know, i think im gonna try and clean my maf sensor first see what happens.

                      Readiness: 0000 0000

                        I take offence to this accusation. I stand behind my repairs 100%. I do not charge a penny to scan a car (so i guess the savings are a little more than $20). A regularly maintenance regime at a reputable shop will never let you down.

                          Have you had any work done on the car lately? Check under the pass where the charge pipe from the turbo to the intercooler, there is a joint in the pipe where it goes from metal to rubber, make sure the fitting has not seperated (I have seen this numerous times when shops don't remove the pipe to work on the car and it pops loose because of their overzealous laziness).

                            Those codes are super hard to track down. Just reset them and see if they come back.
