Mk1 or MK2??

Hi, my friend just bought a 89' Jetta
Im not quite sure what the cut off is between the MK1 and MK2.
Im thinking this is an MK2 but im not to sure.
Hopefully we can dress it up a bit and get a new member for the club!

I just found out that the deck in the 89' Jetta doesnt work
I still have my stock deck kicking around. Would this deck work in her car?
