    Re: So pissed off

    Sorry to hear that.
Thats exactly the reason i dont get loans for vehicles. #1 its a bad investment #2 by the time you'd pay the loan of and the interest your paying way to much for the same vehicle. #3 if this happens its just like $$$ in your pocket cause you dont owe anything
at least you were not leasing it!

    who is you insurance company?
Whether you can or you cant,
    you are right!

      Re: So pissed off

thanks for the comments guys. i am waiting to hear on monday from the manager and maybe i can get more. another suggestion i have heard is bringing the other driver to small claims court for the remaining 3 grand. it only costs something like 50 bucks to make a claim + a day or two lost at work.
definitely a consideration but i'll just wait to see what i can get out of this manager.

      the company is ING Insurance.

i decided that the next car i buy will not be a lease or a loan. and if it is a loan, it will be very little. the downside to this is that i may have to end up leaving the beauty that is veedubs.

another thing i might be able to argue is that it was a dealership purchase. meaning it is certified, has an added 2 year FULL warranty, etc. an identical one to mind is at northland volkswagen for $21,950 right now. i definitely think that is a valid argument.

Id get down to NL and get a quote on that car written down if you can, that way when this drags out a few months and i know it dragged out over 9 month with mine i still had the written quote to show them at the end and i eventaully got a much better pay out.

Is anyone on here from NL that could help out?

            Re: So pissed off

My insurance has a clause that if for whatever reason the payout is less than what's owing, it's covered - I think it's called gap insurance. Dirt cheap, relatively speaking (like 30 a year or something). Get that when you have a 4+ year loan.

Also, I'd go talk to a VW salesman and make it clear you will be shopping for a replacement in the future - get them to give you a written trade-in offer for your car as described. I don't know if they'll put it in writting but can't hurt to ask.

yeah i've been talking to Doug at Northland VW, who was my sales guy. We have been having some trouble getting each other on the phone for more than 2 minutes but i'm hoping i can talk to him today and and get some paperwork, such as - information on vw re-certification (as that adds value), info on the 2 year additional VW warranty, trade-in value info, etc.

I've decided that I am just simply going to refuse anything below $20,000. I live in Mission (calgary) and walk to work downtown so i dont really need a car right now. and when i do need a car, i can use my girlfriend's car. so i'm willing to wait this out until I get what I want.

At 30 below with the chill, I'm sure you are rethinking the "don't really need a car" comment right about now.

Wouldn't trade-in value be pretty much "black book"? Black book is about $12260 so that wouldn't be a big help.

yeah i got a ride from my girlfriend this morning - i wouldnt drive downtown anyway even if i had my car since parking would cost about 25 bucks.
but good point about the trade-in value.

thats actually the same thing that happened to me. i'm still in negotiation with insurance. so far they have offered me 17,500... which is better. but i would still be out a couple grand.
i'm trying to provide as much documentation as i can right now.
