  • RAM question?

I know alot of you guys are comp experts so this should be easy. I'm trying to upgrade my bro's comp with another 128MB of RAM, but how do I know if it is SD or DDR?

    Thanks.

Depending on how old it is. Older pc's use SDRAM while newer ones use DDR. They have different pin sizes as well. Just tell us the motherboard and the version and we can find out for ya =)

Not really sure... He has an older comp, it's pretty slow. I think an AMD athlon 900mhz. So I presume it's SD ram then. But then I'm not sure if it's 100 or 130? How do I check the motherboard?

        Thanks.

You need to open up the case and actually look at the motherboard. It will have a brand name printed on it, as well as a model number. Once you have that information you can just download the manual from the website and see if the board takes PC100 or PC133.

Honestly the difference between PC100 and PC133 on that machine won't be huge anyhow.

Just buy PC 133 - it's backwards compatible.
