  • Scarey experince last night

So im sleeping and its just my sister and myself in the house becuase my parents were on a cruise, but come back today.

I hear my alarm going off and i think damn 5:30 all ready. But i open my eyes to realize that its not my alarm clock going off but my house alarm! 3 am! My bed room is in the basment right next to the siren and its sooo freaken loud.

I fly out of bed and im so scared to go upstairs but i know i gotta do it. I quickly throw on some sweat pants grab my bat and a hunting knife out of my dresser. I creep up my stairs quickly but as quietly as i can. I run around the main floor and take a quick look but no one there.

My sister comes down stairs now scared shitless also. I disarm the alarm and notice that the system tells me that the sensors in the garage were tripped.

Oooh boy. I slowly turn the handel and wip open the door to the garage. No one there! but my garage door is wide open.

I look around in the garage and nothin seems to be out of the norm. check all cars for any damage. Nothin.

Alarm company calls right away to ask if everything is alright, i tell them i think so but unsure. They let me know they have a cruiser on stand by if needed and to just hit the police button on the alarm. (which was good)

I have no clue what happined last night, how my garage door got opened but nothing is missing or anythign unsually. I go back inside, lock the house all up again and activate the alarm again. I wait on the couch to stake anything out. Nothin. I go no sleep for the rest of the night and now im exhausted lol. Still have no clue what happined but it was nuts!

Just thought id share my little experince last night.

My guess is someone got the garage open and was planning on doing some shopping but when the siren went they took off before anything could be grabbed. Hense why nothing was out of the ordinary.

erase all the transmitters from the opener, and reprogram them just in case there are extra ones programmed in there.

unless it's an old opener, then get a new opener system.

                Re: Scarey experince last night

reprogram your garage door openers and remotes. its very easy nowadays for people to troll neighborhoods with scanners and pick up peoples codes and open the doors without breaking a thing.

i always lock my car IN the garage. alarm is set on the car and everything so if someone wants in they are going to be setting the car alarm off as well.

Don't most of the newer garage door openers use rolling codes? If you have an old one it maybe time to upgrade since it already looks like you like a secure home. I do agree with the recommendation to recode your transmitters though.
