actually kris.. the samsungs and newer LCDs rates are very good. My monitor doesn't streak enough to want me to hate it.. UT2003 a tiny bit but after a while you don't even notice it or might not notice it at all.. they are very good.. in another 6-12 months LCDS should be so good that CRTs will be on the outs..

I've demo'd some nice LCD's and I always notice it I can't stand a refresh rate below 100hz when I am playing. I am not sure when they will be getting better, it doesn't seem like this is a priority for the LCD market yet...

actually kris.. the refresh rate has nothing to do with LCDs.. its set at 60hz but LCDs don't scan lines like CRTs.. they update pixels so you don't see them etc.. the pixel refresh rate however is what causes the streaking/ghosting of games.. my eyes don't get sore after 12 hours of straight nerding it up on mine

Ryan: Yeah I knew how LCD's work but its just simpler to talk about refresh rate for the whole screen... also I am not sure what an 'acceptable' single-pixel refresh time is. I use an LCD at the universtity for programming, its much nicer than CRT for reading text. I would rather have a 17" LCD than a 21" CRT for doing desktop stuff, but not for playing games.

And yes, the Aeron chair is the greatest chair ever invented. I tried to get one in Calgary back before I had a car (and thus had more money) but at that time they were well over $1000 when ordering only one. Sitting in an Aeron makes your whole body turn to luxurious jello.
