  • Mystery Credit Card Issues

Ok boys, I need some help just in case I'm having a brain fart.

As far as I know, I've been to Tecmotion twice, both on NVD/ED dyno days. I have 2 invoices:

July 29/06 which was when he put the SRT on the dyno at the end and we paid 53 bucks, and last year on
Sept 24/05 when Bart sent smoke signals with his sooty thing. I checked my photo albums and both match up to my picutes.

Now there are 2 OTHER charges, that make no sense:

June 11/06 I have a charge for 53 dollars, but my car was in DTP that weekend (the 10th). None of us did a dynoday that Sunday right?!?

But worse, is a charge on:

March 29/06 for 146.46 - and I have nothing in my photo album for this time. Car would have been in winter mode, and that's a Wednesday. I have never done any tuning there.

So can anyone offer anything I may be missing, or totally mind blocking before I go in and ask him to start pulling invoices? I mean the 146 is totally out to lunch, but maybe we did do something on the sunday after DTP? I really hate looking like an idiot, although it happens often. :(

Also might want to check your own records.

Can you tell I just started using Quicken?

    No dynoday after DTP.

The first two make sense though.

Well if you where at DTP why would you go to a Dyno after such a long weekend? Sounds bogus and really looks bad on the company and since it will only cost you $2 per charge it will be cheap for you to figure it out.

Yeah as far as I know the 2 dates were the only times we went there. Did you possibly take your Supra there ever?

Thought about it but nope. I thought maybe I went and blocked it out of my mind after seeing low numbers, but I take too many pictures and scan all my dynos for there to be no record.

I will head over there today - they have a good inv system so we should be able to at least see which invoice and who.

It's also possible it's a credit card messup, but seems unlikely.

Will report back the findings, and again -check your own transactions as well.

Good to confirm there was only 2 dyno days (you start second guessing your memory when older).

          Thx for the help!

Brent: What do you mean 2 dollars/charge? Is that what the CC charges to provide the receipt/paper backup info?

If they refuse to refund it at techmotion you might be out of luck, if it's a VISA you can only dispute charges in the last 90 days.

Talked to Tecmotion - totally baffled by it as he doesn't see a lot of work in the winter either. Will check records to see if he got paid those days etc.

Sounds more and more like a Mastercard screwup - possibly labelled the charge wrong, but we'll see later today. Especially if no one else has noticed any problems.

If you dispute a charge and it ends up being on your forgot about etc they charge you $2. I had this happen once as the place I had some work done invoiced it across the street to their gas bar so i had no idea what was going on.

I've never heard of a $2 charge, is that a mastercard thing?

Re: Techmotion Dynoday Credit Card Issues

He looked through his books and has no charges showing of those amounts on those days (or at all for the bigger one). He was out of town with his muscle car club the DTP weekend.

So it must be a mislabeled mastercard transaction.

Could a mod remove "techmotion" from the subject line, as it now doesn't appear to even concern them at all, and we've established I wasn't smoking crack?

                    Thx!

So what do the charges say as far as what they were for?

No detail, just a mastercard ref number. I will give them a shout later today if not busy.

Oh yah it's got the merchant name as well :"tecmotion" and the amount.

But it looks like their export function put the wrong name on some of the records. I look now and that ID number shows Canada Safeway. So it was definately the CC company. The real coincidence was one of the charges was 53 bucks which is exactly how much the dyno day fee was. Perhaps that's why it was marked wrong.

Lesson learned - always check your statements because even CC companies make mistakes. And keep receipts/invoices. :P

Oh and triple thumbs up to Mark(?) at techmotion for checking into things so quickly! I feel bad about wasting his time.
