$7k a semester? plus food and housing? ouch! Well atleast you get to live in a nice place while you study even if you don't get to enjoy it.

On the bright side, I have a few friends that go to University of Manitoba med school and they pay $300 a month rent to stay at med-apartments. Pretty cheap... but they need it, they're all graduating with 100k in debt.

Ya, not only is it hard to get in grade-wise but you have to do well on the interview as well..my buddy had a 4.0gpa at u of a and couldnt get into med school cause he didnt nail his interview....Granted he's from a wealthy family and he's white so its that much harder (the only time you can say that haha)

Race has alot to do with everything these days, whether you agree or not. People have minority quota's to fill.

I won't even get into minority quotas and how pissed off some people are in Saskatchewan when they found out that the school raised their reserved aboriginal seat number from 3 to 6.

I live in a dorm and pay like $1400USD for 4 months = $350USD/month with utilities and all that included. AC is on full blast...all day long haha...gets freaking cold at times and I have to push myself to raise the temp up a little bit.

They make you stay in the dorms for the first 4 months so that you have support of fellow students since you are in a new place/new country/new school etc. Pretty good idea because you know everybody really well then. After this semester is done I have to find a place to live. I already got in touch with a Calgary girl who wants to move out of her place and it costs like $400USD/month + elec. So its not that bad. You can cut that to $350'ish if you rent a house with like 3 other people but I don't want to do that....I like living alone haha.

Canadian schools are hard to get into for a reason. I believe all the admission processes are quite fair, and in fact are even a little slack. They're actually beginning the process of revamping some of the admission "hoops" because most feel they're not strict enough. Also, I've heard that med. degrees from St. Kitts aren't recognized in most of Canada, so hopefully things do change for your benefit. Good luck with all your studies Nismo and take in some rays for all of us.

dub17: Reputable Caribbean schools like the one I go to ARE recognized in Canada, thats why there is a 50% Canadian student population here. There is actually one guy who graduated from my school and he is now doing residency in Saskatoon.

Got my results back for the first set of exams....pwn3d them!!!
