  • Emmisions:the end is near....

Anybody notice those cube vans on deerfoot north and south and when you
drive by they sniff your exhaust fumes and tell you if your over or not.

i got a feeling alberta is going to go with mandatory emmision testing.

oh by the way i mean your cars exhaust fumes.

Yah, I saw them at the northbound entrance to Deerfoot from 16th ave on Thursday or Friday. I was wondering what they were doing. They had all these cones on either side of the road and a bunch of sensors.

      The truck had Maryland plates???

emissions testing is nothing but a cash cow and incovienance. It does nothing to reduce emissions as has been proven by ICBC's Air Care system in Vancouver.
If they want to cut down on pollution there are far bigger things they can target which if reduced by only a few % would be far greater than large cuts to car emissions. Ever flown into fort mack and you know what i am talking about.

This would hurt what is going on up north as well as a lot of trucks aren't exactly the cleanest things ever.

Our Eurovan my wife says tested "fair" and puzzles me because it doesn't even have a cat converter....

She said the van was on Southland Drive as she was exiting the Deerfoot.

I was puzzled to, they were on the merge lane from 22x to macleod trail north. My car has 1 cat, no O2 sensor and it tested fair...lol

agreed. if they do this, i'm pretty sure "work" vehicles will be exempt as well. and of course, most work vehicles are big ass deisel trucks.

i'm pretty sure with the fort mac situation, all of the sites are probably breaking numerous emissions laws, but the government is looking the other way because after all, that is what is driving our prosperous economy.

If i think too hard about it, I feel bad and get tempted to leave it all (fort mac and all the money) but right now its just too hard to pass up.

Yeah they are definitely doing that. Its scary when a plant is capable of makings it own weather. Syncrude and Suncor and just absolutely brutal imo, you can always see big clouds on top of those plants from far away. If AB government is really concerned about emissions, they should be targetting the big guys, not cars...

having flown into fort mack on numerous occasions i can vouch for the weather issue. with the amount of steam coming out of the ground its brutal. the turbulence is so bad you think the wings are going to fall off.
