Question ambout mk3 air intake

I've installed yesterday an air intake. It works fine and sounds good but on the original air filter box there were two small vacuum hoses atached on the side. Now they are just hanging down by the new air intake. Is that a problem?? And what those vacuum hoses for????

I'm gonna take a guess and say they are probably for the flap that opens to let air in by the engine when it's cold, and then closes once it warms up.

you might not need them but may want to plug them.
