I need to get off my ass and put my camera to good use. I have hardly had a chance to mess around with it since I got it.

Here's one of my favorites that I took shortly after getting it.

Do you need a big professional camera to do this stuff, or will a compact do? i have a compact and you can adust the iso and the exposer and all that but maybe im just not that good with it yet!

Ahah Derrick - you were the one that posted in the vortex cam forum! I printed the stair pic and am about to put it on the wall in my office. Local talent! No idea that was you.

                        Re: Take Your Best Shot!

More than anything you need to learn the situations that a good photo can be taken (learnt by taking photos), then you need to match the opportunity to the capabilities of your camera (learnt by taking photos).

Generally speaking you need exposure control to get the right effect in your camera, if you have aperature/exposure priority modes use those to get a feel for the variance they can create. If you don't have these available make absolutely sure that you're using the correct scene mode for the given situation (read manual, don't be lazy and use the green arrow mode).

Give it a month and you'll be hooked.

Haha, I whore it up on the Vortex photog forum once in a while. I see some Calgary/Alberta sigs there, but don't usually recognize your guys' screen names other than here on Eurodrivers
