    Re: Take Your Best Shot!

If you got time and are interested a great photography book to pick up is called Understanding Exposure: Revised Edition. basically teaches you how to get the best creative shot you can and how to manipulate the settings on your camera to create a desired effect. And you definately dont neeed a professional camera to do it, if you got the manual settings you can get just as good as pictuers.

                              Re: Take Your Best Shot!

so what's the difference between the d50, d70 and d80? i think the d80 has a crazy resolution (10MB or something?) but other than that what is the difference between the three?
I'll level with you guys - I used to be really into photography but I learned from the old school and digital is pretty new to me when it comes to photography.
I have been itching to get back into it for a while now, so I may as well go digital while I'm at it... fill me in!
I've always liked Canon for their lenses... And my old camera is a Minolta which I LOVE.

                                Re: Take Your Best Shot!

I picked up a d50 for $750 new from Best Buy like 5 months ago which was a steal at the time and love it.. Key thing that got me on it was that it uses SD cards instead of compact flash like pretty much every other decent Digital SLR out there. And I didnt want to go out and drop $1300 at the time for a d70. d80 is there new release with higher megapixel and some other boosted options, better autofocusing system and stuff like that. Dad uses the d70s and he's very happy with it, then my g/f uses an original Rebel (also known as the the 350d)and has been using it since they were first released... now she likes my d50 better.. My buddy just dropped $2300 on a D200 off ebay with acccessories.. waiting to see what that's like.
