I'm looking into building one of these, as I'd love to have my own custom setup at home. What software are you using?

I havent personally done it, but ive had ti demoed to me, my parents use it and a few guys at work rave about it

I hate this answer but, I built an MCE based machine from compatible hardware, it ran great for two months, was very happy. Upon an automatic update the audio card became incompatible and I've not been able to get it running since!!! GRRRRR. Drives me nuts.

Basically I just haven't gotten around to replacing the card, but I'm likely to purchase a new laptop with MCE on it within the next couple weeks so I'm hesitant to repair it.

I will comment, if you're going to do this:

1. Build it HDTV compatible
2. Buy way too much storage.

The windows MCE version degraded video quality a fair bit, it was worth it to be able to watch the show you want to see any time, but it was degraded and I suspect this will be difficult to avoid regardless of platform.
