Dog Training

hey guys - Gettin a puppy next week and am looking for some dog training....basic training I suppose it would be (sit,stay,come, **** outdoors...that sort of thing)

anyone have any reccomendations?Ideally it would be in some sort of a school so little buddy can get to socializing with other dogs... Oh, hes a euro dog too..Mini schnauzer

james i've been doing my new baby since the weekend..

i put her on feeding schedules of morning afternoon early evening and night
she drinks when she wants tho..

as for waste management lol.. at first she pee'd all over the place i bought these scented mats and spray crap and she mauls the mats and the spray doesn't work so i'm taking that crap back to petland..

but i have her on walking schedules now too which she knows and is learning to go outside now instead of on my floors lol.. so far so good the last few days with no in house messes!

she has a cage for travel but doesn't like to sleep in it so we have a bed for her too.. at night she sleeps with us alot tho.. which i don't mind really

we got her about 6 chew toys and really small nylabones which are good for her teeth

we wanted a small play pen for the basement to put her in during the day.. well petland ones are like 120 bucks!!! F-that! i went to rona and bought closet shelfs.. for like 35 bucks then ziptied them together for instant cage that will still fold up cheap and works!

Good lady that works out of the macEwan Vet clinic in N.w calgary, just finshed taking my pup there and it helped alot. 6 classes, 1 a week, and for a decent price (cannot remember amount)

Thanks for the replies chaps!

Ryan - Im also going the self taught route mainly, been doin a bunch of reading in the last week. Basically want the dog to get out and socialize with other dogs tho as my brothers dog is a complete pussy around dogs that just want to play and he runs away immediatly haha.

How are you managing these afternoon feedings with work? My plan is walk/feed pup before I leave for work, block the kitchen off with a baby gate (gives him a little space to roam during the day) and leave water, bed and some toys in there...for food, ive got him a couple of those toys that dispense food when the dog bats it around a bit so thats what he gets until I get home at 5, then more dinner and walks.

I went and picked up some of those scented-piss-mats too, hopefully he likes it haha.

nah.. she'll whine like hell if i keep her in the car in her cage for that long.. she'll be at home with mommy for that time

james for feedings my GF comes home at 11 or 1 and feeds her again during that time and gives her a walk too..

good luck with the mats.. haha they haven't worked yet for me..

i'll post some pics of my dog in the next few days once i get my shiz together hahaha.. i just paid off the S4 so mods ahoy!

hah well my pups mommy works so thats out, he's gonna have to get used to 2 meals a day

Besides, 2 meals a day = less dookie cleanup for James!
