Well since hockey is pretty popular around here I thought we could have a thread dedicated to the upcoming playoffs. So post up your thoughts and predictions and try to keep the trash talk polite

First round match-ups are:

Western Conference

(1) Detroit vs. (8) Edmonton

(2) Dallas vs. (7) Colorado

(3) Calgary vs. (6) Anaheim

(4) Nashville vs. (5) San Jose

Eastern Conference

(1) Ottawa vs. (8) Tampa Bay

(2) Carolina vs. (7) Montreal

(3) New Jersey vs. (6) N.Y. Rangers

(4) Buffalo vs. (5) Philadelphia

I was born a Flames fan, so of course I am a bit biased. But on the same note, I was born a hockey fan, and I actually think that the Flames will stack up well with whomever they face. Here is my breakdown....

Western Conference

(1) Detroit vs. (8) Edmonton : Detroit in 6

(2) Dallas vs. (7) Colorado : Dallas in 5

(3) Calgary vs. (6) Anaheim : Calgary in 6

(4) Nashville vs. (5) San Jose : San Jose in 7

Eastern Conference

(1) Ottawa vs. (8) Tampa Bay : Ottawa in 5

(2) Carolina vs. (7) Montreal : Montreal in 7

(3) New Jersey vs. (6) N.Y. Rangers : New Jersey in 6

(4) Buffalo vs. (5) Philadelphia : Buffalo in 6

Those are just my honest predictions. With that said, it would not surprise me one bit if Edmonton took out Detroit, Tampa stunned Ottawa, or Colorado squeezed by Dallas....although Theodore has yet to play back-to-back 'good' games. I would love to see an all Canadian final (although that would be the worst thing that could happen for the NHL in the states).....can anyone say Calgary vs. Ottawa?....or, maybe we're in for one of the lowest rating finals in history if San Jose played Buffalo

I don't think Edmonton has the slightest chance against Detroit. With Rollie in net... their done.

ya, i am sorta leaning to agree with Liquid on the edmonton comment...but that being said, Edmonton is a much more physical, gritty team and historically Detroit doesnt do well in a 'best of' series with that type of team...Either way, will be an exciting series to watch!

Yeah I will take your money Dave ... they have no one in net now, they are still a good team, but its like Calgary with out Kipper.

SJ will take them out, if anything I think SJ is one of the best teams in the West right now... If you said I could not pick Calgary to win I would say it goes down to Dallas and SJ.
