Anyone have Telus TV?

Well when I move I am looking at my options for tv; with being in a highrise satelite is out of the question. I have had Shaw in the past but the time shifting and all digital signal of Telus seems to be a plus, only drawback is no HD yet but Shaw does not have that many channels yet.

Just wanted to know if anyone had any feedback good or bad with the new service.

I have sattelite, so I'm not going to be much help.

With that said, Telus has been horrible to deal with for me in the past with my phones. I'm always a little gun-shy with them.

personally hate telus and shaw and both can suck meh balls.. shaws internet is good but thats it

I actually signed up two weeks ago...So far everything has been good. My only complaint is that it froze up a few times during a hockey game, so I called and they fixed something... and its hard to get used to the channel numbers being different.

Other then that the main selling point was it was cheaper, free boxes, free installation (Guy was there for 2.5 hrs) and Every single channel is digital unlike shaw.. and when they do go HD they will have greater capability since their bandwidth isnt as limited as shaws through basic coaxial cable. Along with various digital music stations they also had most radio stations from AB and some of BC...The installer also thought they would eventually come out with wireless... so that would be cool...
I was sold on the three free months plus free VOD credits..

One thing I will tell you is telus is always years behind in their plans as they take so long to implement everything. I will also tell you that their current customer service/services suck! and that is comming from someone who's family has over 100years+ employment in the company.

My friend works for Shaw, he smacks down Telus whenever possible. His opinions may be a bit bias though...I have just been told of a decreased picture quality compared to shaw.

Coming from Shaw digital I havent noticed any difference... I dont see how there could be a decreased quality when they have more bandwitdth to work with... Something about only 1 channel coming thru the line at once as opposed to Sahw you have everything coming thru.. and Telus is 100% digital compared to Shaw which isnt..
Either way, I have been happy thus far! (Three months free is pretty good IMO... thats like $150 right there.. plus the free boxes and install! (Shaw Charges something like $20 to hook up regular cable! This was a three hour install

shaw lost my vote a few months ago when i tried to get my parents place on high speed. the only reason we were able to get any service is because we happened to know i guy who works with shaw, who was able to personally set up an appointment for us. Telus doesnt have service at their place, and I think shaw knew it.. cause im sure they would have put off the install for another month or so if the guy we know didnt help us out. Telus has been quick to fix the one or two problems i have had with them in calgary in the last 4-5 years, so I have no beef with them.

My personal goal is to buy nothing from Telus...they'd have to do something truly innovative to even be considered...even then a contract or committment would kill the deal for me...

Hmmm some mixed reviews here. I have never ever had anything with Telus as I have never had a land line in my place so I have no experience with them. I have had regular Shaw cable for 5+ years and it has really been pretty marginal so thought this could be a good change, but maybe I should go ghetto and just spend the $50 a month on DVDs instead.

haha you still want the news and stuff.. i'd try the telus out if they have the 3 free months like mark said without any contract crap.. then quit after 4 kinda deal if it sucks..

I guess another feature that I really like is being able to pick better packages of channels.. not just basic premier etc etc.. you get a basic setup, then for something like $45 you get to pick three or four other packages.. Mine will most likely be movies, US channels and Sports... who am I kidding.. Porn will be in there somewhere!! (On a side note, SexTV is included in the three months free, but no playboy or hustler.. not that I watch it!)
