  • Passing Through Calgary Today April 5

    Hey Calgary people,

I'm passing through Calgary going from Edmonton to Lethbridge today between 6 and 7pm.

What's the fastest way through considering traffic, construction, etc? I'll be coming in on Highway 2.

    Thanks for any help!

    B

sorry but deerfoot (hiway 2) is the quickest
stay in the left lane till you hit the merge of memorial drive onto deerfoot from the right had side, then switch into the right lane. You'll save about 20 mins. As soon as the traffic starts to slow down on the right lane, switch into the left.
From around 7 the traffic will clear up
have a safe one, its a rainy day out here

      Thanks!
So stay on the Deerfoot all the way through and switch lanes from left to right around Memorial Drive and back again when the right starts to back up.

When did they finish the Deerfoot connection to Highway 2 south of Calgary?

its always been there (deerfoot IS highway 2.. just named Deerfoot for calgary locals <<< Sorry if thats not what you meant)
they did have a tonn of construction with the overpass around Douglas dale area. Now there is absolutely no lights all the way to okotokes

Not true, the best is take hwy 1 east, down to Langdon, down to Vulcan and south from there to Lethbridge...20 km shorter, no Deerfoot south headache...

I think he meant when did they connect deerfoot onto highway 2 south of calgary?...
If that's the case, about 2 years ago. You used to have to switch over to Mcleod Trail... *shudder*

20K Shorter but the speed limt is lower you can easily go 130 on highway 2 with no trouble, but i would not try that on the vulcan road
                ....

From Calgary, the fastest way through to Lethbridge is either cutting through Granum or a raod just outside Claresholm. Technically the Vulcan way might be shorter.. but as stated earlier the SL is lower, and single lane.
I have been driving back and forth from Leth for the past five years.. and have taken all roads down..

But through Calgary Deerfoot is definately the way to go..then just folllow it to Granum, turn left there.. follow to stop sign, turn right, and it will merge with main highway and take you to LA!

Me too, Potato, potatoe, from downtown I prefer the Vulcan route...no competition, to each their own...
