  • Car Accident

    Hi all,
My Husband hit some black ice March 22nd, 2006 on the way home from his work and the back end of his truck spun out. Four other Vehicles were also involved.

My Husband has Whiplash, two people in the other vehicles were hurt and went to the hospital. I took my husband to the Grey Nuns hospital to get checked out because he refused medical treatment at the scene. He is so upset over it. That truck was his pride and joy, he had it since 1993.

My husband hit black ice, and lost control of his truck two cars coming the opposite way hit him and spun him around twice. His truck is written off.

*Speed wasn't a factor, Road conditions were.*

The third car hit his canopy because it was ripped right off. The people in the two of the three other cars were hurt from their airbags blowing at them. The Roads were just nasty around here polished ice almost like glass. After several accidents the Sand and Salt trucks go out. Go Figure. I'm still shaking and in shock after seeing my husbands 1993 Toyota Truck.

Get this the roads were so bad my husband slipped and fell getting out of the police cruiser where he was sitting to keep warm. His truck is totalled he is talking about going back to work tomorrow I don't think so. He is just so upset he has never had a car accident ever in his who life of driving.I told him it is not your fault. The Road's speed limit is 100 Km/H he was driving 60 the other drivers were going 50. Once the rear end of the Truck started slidding nothing to stop it.

My Husband and I went and looked at the New Toyota Tacoma Trucks they are not bad for a Toyota. I hate their cup holders that is my only beef. VW has way better cup holders IMHO. This just makes me appreciate my Golf so much more.

      Tacoma? Tundra?

I’m sorry for his unfortunate accident and the lost of his beloved Toyota. Your husband has such a rock solid truck ever IMO. I drive a Toyota truck now too and loving it. A TRD blower is going in soon with full factory warranty. Yep, from engine, transmission to the rear axel, I’m covered. And how can you beat the dealership offer you a life-time free oil change, haha.

Toyota truck “Never Quit” that’s their ad said and is true. I don’t miss the cup holder from VW.

Did he check out the FJ Cruiser?

          Re: Car Accident

          Thanks Guys.

My Husband is really morning his beloved Truck. We went and looked at the Tacomas nice trucks. If we have to buy a new one he wants the Tacoma 4x4 with Off road and Towing package, Manual 5 speed, in Indigo Ink colour (my
suggestion on the colour) to go with Blue - Indigo Ink Golf.

I'm still hoping for the best. Hey Do adjusters take forever? The accident Happened on Wednesday Morning and by Friday the insurance adjuster still hadn't checked out his truck. What is up with that? Is this the Norm for Alberta? Also the RCMP still didn't have the reports all done like they said they would in the 48 hour time period. Granted tons of Accidents that day from the Black Ice.

I really appreciate all your input guys it means alot to me.

          Hugs
          Judy

            Re: Car Accident

Insurance adjusters are busy, especially with the good road conditions you guys have had up there.
Give them a week or two to get their end of things taken care of.
When my car burned, it was ~4 weeks before my insurance company paid up.

              Thanks Zero!

Having moved from BC 1 year on May 18, 2006 I'm not used to having private Insurance and I wasn't sure how long you hve to wait for things. Thank you very much for the feedback on this because I was panicing saying to my husband what is up with this why are on it. Makes totally sense now.
