I heard some people are paying 26,000 for non-SS cars too that seems way too much money for that car.

I wonder if they have a plastic impeller on their waterpumps too...

          That said:

The most expensive thing you'll pay for in terms of repairs, upgrades, etc. with a car will be the purchase price. GM's offer low, domestic purchase prices. You have a large variety of service options, in or out of dealer, as opposed to VW, where, with my TDI, I can choose one of the three dealerships, and that's about all. With GM as well parts for domestics are usually cheaper.

ya, and domestic styling is coming along pretty well...if theyd pick up the ball on the interior side of things Id convert (edit: in a select few cases)

a buddy put a deposit on the turbo'd saturn sky thats coming in october, 260hp...under 40k, and really not a bad looking car...(not that id buy one in 100 years, i would never buy a saturn...esp. a ~40k saturn!)

After owning an domestic i dont think i would ever go back haha. They have gotten a bit better over the years, but still you find the cheap interior bits and pieces. And I've found the driving experience to be a bit detached on all the yank tanks I've driven. I think the only thing I'd get from GM would be a bad ass truck.

My Saturn ('92 SL) was an absolute tank. A total hunk of crap, but I loved it - save for the electric seatbelts! I'd even bump shopping carts and little kids into it for fun to watch the dent resistant panels bounceback - that is, till it got cold and cracked.
