They had no info for it and of course you cannot sit in it, but the price is around 100,000 from what I have been told.

                      Re: Car Show

                      Heya,

I was a the car show this afternoon, and it was pretty sweet. I'm surprized noone has mentioned the Audi A3 TDI there. That's right, an A3 TDI. I spoke briefly with the guys at the booth there, and they told me that once it's done this series of shows, they are crushing it since they don't sell them in Canada yet. I nearly broke down in tears right there.

As far as the mercedes G class, there's a silver one in the main hall. I took a quick peek, and it looked very nice. Also, The King's Own Calgary Regiment army reserves have one of their militarized versions of the mercedes G class in the smaller hall to the right of the main one. (Just around the bend from the A3 TDI).

Lots of cool cars, makes me wish I could afford two or three vehicles.

                            Re: Car Show

I'll have to resize a bunch, and post them on my days off (early next week...)

But, I'll post up a few of my observations about the quirks of car manufacturers......First off, alot more cars are looking appealing! I like the sporty sedan market, with the Volvo S40, the Merc CK230, the Acura TL, and definitely the RS4!!! Maybe its me getting older, maybe they are actually building some performance aspects into this market (I think thats it...), but I like them!

Second off, Audis display was dissapointing to say the least....THey had, what, 4 cars there, stuffed on the edge of the Acura display??? I only wanted to see the RS4 (why black?? it looks sooooo much better in red!), so I was happy there, I was dissapointed with the fact that you could not get into the car at all to sit (Merc let you sit in a 120K car!).....I thought the point of many of these shows is to be able to look and feel a car you may or maynot be able to obtain? I also heard alot of people asking where the TT's are? Not a good showing...

VW's display was good, lots of cars, that ugly ass Eos....it was nice to see a base golf there too! I didn't know they had arrived aswell.....Too bad they are still showcasing the same beetles as the last 10 years....Cmon VW, lets see some Touran's, Polo's etc....shake the market up!

Chrysler is waaaay out of touch with the market, what a gross bunch of cars there.....I didn't mind the SRT10 truck though....Oh, and the Jeep Diesel! What a step in the right direction, now if they had also put a caravan diesel in aswell, I may have been more interested...

Interiors.......sooooo much hate for interiors.......On one hand, the steering wheels are getting fat and sporty....on the other hand I think maufacturers think the same of the prospective owners...I'm not a small guy, and I still was too small for all the sporty seats!! Saab was terrible the bolsters moved like they weren't attached! they felt like cheap pillows...that was dissapointing.. Dodge, in the SRT10, I had easily 6 inches total room (3/side) between my skin and the bolsters.... in fact, I don't think I sat in a singe car that I could say wow, this is tight! It sure made me like my GTI seats, they still hug me...

MSRP...I know, I know...I ranted about the price of a GTI a couple weeks back....I must have been out of touch with the market lately, because I noticed even a fricking hyundai tiburon is 30.5K! THe civic, the same...whats happening? you couldn't get a decent low end luxury car for under 40K, and sports cars (G35, 350Z, STI, etc.) were all 50+! Just when a guy thinks hes ahead.....

So, in conclusion, it was an alright show, it wasn't anything special, not enough concepts, too much hands off (haha, the chrysler 300 on a podium.....what a joke), and some nasty car show girls....

Oh, and I'm winning that ridgeline.....oh yeah.....

                              Re: Car Show

Car show was pretty good this year. Went down with my pops this afternoon and was stoked to see the Lotus Elises!! Base price starts at $58K!! Not bad!

The Rolls Phantom made me laugh out loud when I saw it! The thing is HUGE! It made me feel like I was scaled down to 3/4 size when I stood by it.

The RS4 looked even more amazing in person than in photos. Although the NA market misses out on the super-bolstered seats and the Lambo steering wheel, it still blew my skirt up. Just trying to get my head around the $105K pricetag... yeeesh! That's getting into P-car territory.

Speaking of which, the Cayman S looked great in that metallic black and the Carrera 4's ass was beautiful!!

Lastly, I spent most of my time split between the Porsche and VW displays. I am very tempted by the new GTi....

                              All in all, good times!
