  • who's with shaw internet?

i figure somebody on here may know the answer before I attempt calling shaw cable tech support and go through their 20 questions...

I'm trying to get my folks' email working. It was working yesterday, when they had their computers wired to the iternet through their linksys router.

I've "upgraded" them to a wireless router, but for whatever reason, I can't get at their email pop3 account anymore. Webmail works fine...it only fails when i try to use outlook with the pop3 shawmail account.

sooooooo, could somebody who's got shaw internet do me a favor and tell me what their pop3 account settings are? Mine are same as what the shaw faq says -- shawmail as both incoming and outgoing server. Any ideas? All firewall stuff is disabled in the router, but i can't figure out what the problem is. (and tech support drives me insane!)

its posted on their website somewhere...give me a sec and I'll find it

edit: err actually its not, I did a google search for it when I had to do it, it was a very easy fix, try searching google with like shaw email AND router and see what you get but I'll try and find the link for you.

      Re: who's with shaw internet?

      This should do it!

My router/firewall requires that I provide the full mail server names.

Although most security products will allow the use of aliases (shawmail), some products require the full server name. Please use the mail server name that corresponds to the closest service area to you from the list below:

      Victoria - shawmail.gv.shawcable.net
      Nanaimo - shawmail.no.shawcable.net
      Vancouver - shawmail.vc.shawcable.net
      Interior BC - shawmail.ok.shawcable.net
      Fort McMurray - shawmail.ed.shawcable.net
      Edmonton/Red Deer - shawmail.ed.shawcable.net
      Calgary - shawmail.cg.shawcable.net
      Saskatoon - shawmail.ss.shawcable.net
      Winnipeg/Ontario - shawmail.wp.shawcable.net
Note: using the full mail server names above could cause email access issues if future changes are made to our network configuration. Using the alias "shawmail" will minimize the impact of any future network changes.

Thank You Nismodrifter this is helpful to me for when I'm back in Edmonton, right now i'm using the Webmail while in BC. I'm using slow shaw/shaw lite, and it is so annoying!

Some days you step in it, some days you don't.
