For those about to get screwed on ebay (your own fault really) I heard today that Futureshop and best buy are planning on releasing a bunch tomorrow, no idea how many, and Walmart had a bunch last week so they are around again.

obviously stores will have them in stock.. it will be a total hot item for xmas presents and a cash cow.. it would be insane not to have stock of them

maybe he doesnt get my comment about the xboxes overheating. i said it because the new xbox360's have been unreliable and aren't issuing recalls until after christmas.

They are great but the price point on console gaming is getting pretty high, I think that may influence the post-release sales. You can actually get a PC for less than an xbox now. I am not saying that such a PC would be comparable for game performance, but I think that the mass market perceives a PC to be more versatile/useful than a gaming console, no matter how technically sophisticated that console is. I bet a fairly poor family would be more willing to spend $1000 on a PC vs $500 on an xbox, just because a PC is now an essential while an xbox is really a more and more expensive luxury item. end rant.

haha but to run doom3 @ 200fps you need a video card that costs the same as the 360 does

i'm buying one in spring.. and a 50" plasma.. simon's made me want one soooooo bad

They haven't been that unreliable, even the info Bart posted in the last thread mentioned that DOA and intial problems are lower on the 360 than not only the previous xbox but substantially lower than the PS2 at release. They've also mentioned that Microsoft has granted overnight shipment to them if you have a problem.

Anyway, I don't really care that much but I believe the figure was ~5% failure rate which would mean 95% WOULDN'T have an issue.

I agree with Kris somewhat that they are getting a little pricey, but I also agree with Ryan, yes a computer is more "practical" but most people that are looking at a console are interested in "gaming" and you can't build a game machine for the same money.

You also have to look at the price as an initial price point, give it a year and the price should come down by $50-100.

yea prices will drop.. after playing a 360 then playing normal xbox which has 'good' graphics the 360 destroys is sooooo bad.. i will buy one after xmas once they get more games going and hopefully some modability.

so far the games are being ripped and the filesystem has been cracked! so hopefully sooooon

i'm loving mine! i've had zero problems with it, and i've had the console running for like 9+ hours some days. as for the games... they aren't the beest i mean graphics are sweet. there just no selection right now. BTW mine sold on ebay for well over the breaking even price. so i'm happy.

1. Bold statement that they all overheat sounds like anti ms bs, that's cause for my comment. No ill will issued but lets be fair!

2. Since this is a car board, let's talk about car games. I don't see anything in the xbox 360 games, disclaimer: I'd like it to be real, ie no kudo points. I will admit the faithfullness of the engine sounds is good, if the rest was up to par...

I'm assuming you're talking about Project gotham? Yea, it's arcadey for sure, but all 3 of them have been like that. For xbox, Forza is the "simulator" type game like GT4. I think it's still a fun game though.
