Tuna, thanks, I'll have a look at Forza next time I'm in best buy...
It's currently only for the original xbox (if you already knew that sorry for stating the obvious) but it's arguably better than GT4 in several ways. I think once a Forza comes out for the 360 or Halo3 I think that will be the time i'll consider buying a 360.
1. Bold statement that they all overheat sounds like anti ms bs, that's cause for my comment. No ill will issued but lets be fair!
2. Since this is a car board, let's talk about car games. I don't see anything in the xbox 360 games, disclaimer: I'd like it to be real, ie no kudo points. I will admit the faithfullness of the engine sounds is good, if the rest was up to par...
i only said they were overheating because thats what I've heard from alot of other people and on news reports. i have no personal experience and dont harber any anti-MS grudge.
The Xbox launch in Japan was terrible, they only sold about 300000 units, thy had leftovers...
That natorisly happens in japan with any foreign consol.

Well I for one am with Simon. I have friends at school that work at places like compusmart and futureshop, they all tell me that countless 360's are coming back. Seems like they were in such a rush to get them out for Christmas 2005 that they went for cheaper, faster parts made by oddball companies and it backfired on them.
As for games, that is the reason I will NEVER buy a 360. They have set up a new area on Xbox Live (which first off costs money to play) where you have to BUY the rights to play your old Xbox games on the new console, you also will HAVE the option to buy more stuff for games (ie: a crazy car for you new racing game). The problem with this is Xbox will start pulling the last level or last few cars off the games and selling them later as "additions". PS3 will include ALL these things for free, plus the system will be a lot better in the whole shot. Sadly the new Nintendo is supposed to be the best of them all, but who wants to play those lame games :S.
^ you always had to pay for xbox live.... every one gets 2 free months or something like that everytime you buy a game. differrece this time is with the silver subscription ( the free one you recive) you're only entitled to play on the weekends or something like that. now with the gold subscription. which gets rolled over if you had xbox live for the old console you get to play when ever.
As for buying cars in games and whatnot honestly that was the first time i have ever heard that. and it sounds like a bad idea. but this doesn't suprise me. i've yet to play my old games, but that whole buying the rights thing sounds like a load of ****

you don't have to "buy" the rights to play your old games, but in some cases (like Halo2 for example) you need to download (for free) a patch which not only allows it to play but also drastically improves graphics. Same goes for some of the sports games.
Also, Live is 10 bucks a month and it's for every and all games and you carry your same ID through any game. PS2 varies by game, some are free and some games (like Final fantasy) are $10 a month just for that particular game. Socomm is also a pay game but not sure how much it is.
As for the buying stuff in the market place, I think the 360 is just going where other games have already started If you go to Ebay and search World of Warcraft you'll see that you can pay cash for all kinds of stuff that is transfered in the game. It's not like they will make games so that you can't finish them unless you buy a new car or some fancy weapon, more like, if you don't feel like working your way through the game and feel like having the best car to play online with, then just go to the marketplace and buy the best one they have (waste of money but hey, people payed 2 grand for a 360 on Ebay). Actually, the service is kind of cool, for those that played Halo2 online, periodically they released new maps for free, they also did free patchs to fix issues with the game and make for better playability.
