  • Satellite install question

So i'm thinking of buying a bell HD sat package before xmas but do you actually get the dish or does bell come by to install it? I don't think i can really install it in the winter so I was going to ghetto it up and put the dish on my kitchen table to get a signal and run raw coax to my TV

then in spring get it installed properly..

i dont think it will work inside your house....im not sure but thats what i heard, and the signal will not travel through a closed window either

Yep, clamp it to a chair and sit it on your balcony, assuming you have one, as it won't work inside your house.

Don't they come and install it for free? Man, Bell is cheap, mine was installed free of charge, they'll even hook up multiple receivers in your house for you if you're really.....electronically challenged. (I'm with Starchoice)

yea i'm just not comfortable with a dude going on the roof in the winter and drilling, etc i'll wait till its warm so no house damage occurs.

They don't drill, they put some screws in (1.5" or so), and if he's a good installer he'll put silcone on them and you're good to go. It's not rocket surgery. He also ran the cable in for me and kept it nice and tidy along the siding.

Also, they can adjust the dish way easier than you can because they just plug a box into it and adjust it right there as apposed to you trying to read it off the receiver.

The other nice thing is THEY can slip and fall, not you.

You buy the whole package, it comes with the dish....right now bell has a promotion on where you get the reciever for free for 2 years......then you set up an install time, they have installers on contract.....they come by, it takes them about 15min to install the dish, and your done.....They deal with running the cables, the roof, everything. Even if they charge 50bux, its a great deal, because I've installed many satellites on my own and its not fun.....I did my HD upgrade myself, and aiming the sat is the worst thing...Don't worry about the winter crap, they install stuff year round...
