  • Digital Receiver Questions?

Ok, I dont know anything about this sort of thing so I though someone might know better?

My folks wants Shaw Digital Music and they dont neccessarily want Shaws receiver for $210.

What else can they get or use to get Shaw Digital Music or something similar to it?

you can rent the shaw box for 10/mo

or they'd have to get a dish.. or buy a XM dealy or sirious inhome dealy and that would do the trick

          Re: Digital Receiver Questions?

Refurbished shaw boxes sometimes go on for $100 or so, call and ask if they have any. My gf's dad got one a couple years ago, no probs with it to date.

I think the refurb cable modems go for about $75.

To get the music you have to subscribe to a shaw digital package. The one with no options (movie pkgs etc.) costs about the same as Tier 3 cable.

I think you can get a bunch of music channels with a starchoice basic package also ($20 a month). It's $50 for the cheapest receiver and you get it back in programming credit. The dish install is free too. XM might be something to look into as well though.

i thought you got all the digital music stations on any dish/digital cable package regardless of the tier of channels you subscribed to..

Ya they are planning on getting the digital package, but it's only a few $ more. I'll get them to look into the refurbished receiver.
