Well, I got my xbox 360 this morning. The Best Buy I work at was sold out within minutes of opening and we had over 100 units, so I'm glad I pre-ordered. Anyhow, I picked up PGR3 with it and WOW, this game is amazing! The sence of speed is awesome and I love the fully rendered dash boards on all the cars, it really adds to the game. As with all the previous PGR games the cars all sounf amazing and very true to life. The Ferraris have a nice hollow howl while the C6 has a nice healthy V8 growl. I'd definitely recommend picking this game up if you've managed to snag yourself a 360. Anyhow, back to playing, I'll post more info later.

Re: xbox 360..... PGR3
Its quite a different game than GT. I lke the GT series, but all the games have only ever been able to hold my attention for a few days. I just find them realy repetitive; buy car, struggle to make money the first few races, mod car, crush competion, move on to next class, repeat. Yea there is some fun in fine tuning your suspension and whatnot, but i just find, for me anyhow, it gets old quickly. I also dislike the fact all the cars sound like farm equipment and the AI cars you race against it brutal.
PGR3 is a very different game. First off, there is no tuning or modding. This will imediately turn some people off of it, but thats not the point. The whole point of PRG is not to make your car faster so you win the races by default, but to out-drive your competition and beat them with skill. Personally I like that kind of racing much better. PGR3 unlike PGR2 is pretty well all exotics. This does dissapoint me a little bit as Mini-Cooper only races online were a blast with the PGR2, but once you get behind the wheel of a Ferrari F50 GT, it all starts to fade away. Driving dynamics are quite good. Its not a hardcore sim, but its definitely not a pure arcade racer, its a little of both, leaning kore towards the sim side. All the cars feel different and they all have thier own personalities when you drive them. Take the Ariel Atom for a rip and the sense of speed is incredible, and it feels like you are driving a go-cart (well, you pretty much are), while driving something like a Bentley GT, you feel its mass in the corners, and its sheer thrust as you pull yourself out of them. One of the things I LOVE about the latest PGR is the addition of fully rendered cockpits and dashboards in all the cars. This adds a lot to the game and gives is a very immersive feel. The shadows on the dash change as you turn and you see glare on the windscreen if its a bright sunny day. Its cool to see the gauges working while you are driving, and they are very true to life. For example, the tach in the AstonMartin goes counter-clockwise, just like the real thing. The lights on the dash all light up when you drive at night, and they light up in the correct colour for the vehicle. One of the other things that makes PGR great is the sounds. Oh god the sounds! If you have a decent surround sound system, get this game for the sound! The sound of the cars in this game is as close to real as it gets. Every car has a unique sound and every car sounds like it supposed to. The sound of the car depends on your camera position too. If you are driving with the camera behind the car, you dont hear a lot of engine noise, but you hear a lot of the exhaust, as well, all the sound will be coming from your front speakers. Now switch to the in-car view and you get the lovely mechanical sounds from the engine plus a nice mix of exhaust note. In some cars, you get lots of noise inside when you are driving, such as the C6 vette, others, like the Bentley GT, are quiet and hushed on the inside, only hearing the dull roar of the motor when its really screaming. A nice touch is the accuracy of where the sound is coming from. Drive a front engined car and your motor sounds come mostly from the center channel when driving in-car, drive a mid/rear engined car, and the motor roars from behind you. Very cool! Anyhow, I think I've babbled on for long enough. That is my take on the game and why I think its one of the best racing games to date. As I said before, if you have the means, go and get it now!Mike - 2011 A4 S-Line

Re: xbox 360..... PGR3
I read this morning that xbox 360's are crashing all the time on people. Makes me laugh.
Have original xboxes gotten cheap or flooded the market? I would like to pick one up super-discounted sometime this winter.KR

Sounds like a pretty cool game, I'll probably get a 360 but not for a while until the price comes down a little and a few bugs have been worked out. Even at the current price it's still not bad as you couldn't build a PC with the same technology for what they are selling for.Jay
