    Re: Credit card "skimming"

I just got one of them shell easypay thingers. Then the clerk doesn't even get to see my credit card.

    Hopefully that's more secure.
I'd like to make a statment!

      Re: Credit card "skimming"

I always considered credit cards more "secure" in the sense that if you're ripped off, the credit card company will almost immediately put on an investigation and refund you your ripped off funds. With a debit card, its a lot harder to prove and the banks are more likely just to freeze your account and take their time, with no obligation to refund you, which is a real pain.

CIBC did their "investigation", starting Nov. 21st, and I went into my CIBC branch on Nov. 22nd to sign a "declaration", basically stating I had the $500 taken out of my account without my authorization, and that I wasn't trying to rip off my bank, and by Nov. 23rd, they had put the $500 back into my account!! No complaints here!!

Interestingly, I've noticed all of the CIBC bank machines now have lighted fronts where the card goes in; so if there's no lighted front, its likely a skimmer put on the front of the machine.
