One of the sweet things I heard about bell though (not sure if this applies to starchoice yet) but you can have up to 6 receivers on one account. I know 6 guys that got together, got all the channels available ($120 a month bill) and they just split it between them, some of the guys are in alberta, some in Sask, etc. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me as long as you have some friends you can trust.
starchoice can do that too, my parents had 8 recievers running at once in their place

Yea, my satelite they installed can do up to 4 receivers. But these guys all live in different house and even provinces! I think Starchoice can do it though but I think it's only a couple and you have to pay 5 bucks per or something. So far i'm liking the switch to sat from basic cable.
shaw digital is partially a lie.. cuz only like 40 are in digital the rest are still OG analog.. as bart said buy a free to air.. nagra2 is cracked now.. flash it and blammo free sat.. but you need the dish/lnb which are easy to get.. i dunno i just pay for my TV.. i hate the hassel of having to tweak that crap all the time yet i do it with my PCs.. LOL crazy life

yeah, but only for dishnet. And you need a free-to-air receiver (ie. can't use existing 3100 or whatever receiver). Not too bad of a deal though! The free-to-air DVB PC cards don't work yet :(
Their menus are slow as well..their service was 'aiight tho. All starchoice really is is digital cable with a couple more timezones tossed into the mix
Word to that, there menus are the most god offel type of slow you can imagine.

yea my parents have starchoice.. its just my shaw with a few other global timezones lol.. stupid shaw and expressvu dont' offer those fancy muchmusic loud and vibe channels which is pretty annoying personally. i do enjoy the odd canibal corpse song and all.
I've tried FTA aswell, and its nice that you get Dish unlocked, but I have yet to find a reciever that actually has functioning guides....man is that painful....

My dad just bought his lastweek, so far so good......The 6100's are better than the older 6000's, because it upconverts SD channels (to 1080i), and its supposed to be quite impressive (still not near HD, but better than plain digital)...I woulda bought the PVR but they are so backordered I would have waited forever for it.....We're guinea piggin it for Bell, as you have to subscribe to a HD pack ($10/month), so essentially we're funding the technological move to HD.....that sucks...
cool! yea i heard horror stories of the older models only outputting HD channels on the component and then outputting regular to Svideo so your tv would click or you'd have to manualy change modes to like video3 kinda deal..
on the new one all channels output via component and audio via optical right? if so i'm so buying one after xmas
yep, it will output everything to either Svideo, YPrPb, or DVI, whichever you are using....plus, you have A/V inputs too, so it will route everything through itself to that too...
