  • Windows Media Problems

I've been having some troubles with windows media player. I am able to play .mpg movies when they are downloaded. But I am unable to play .mpg files when streaming. All other formats work but .mpg when streamed causes my media player to freeze. Anyone have any solutions?

update to latest.. delete all codecs currently on machine then reinstall a codec pack to resolve.

Ok I reinstalled Windows Media 10 the newest edition and reinstalled my codec package and still freezes when trying to play streaming .mpg media.

I searched for *.az files and found these. I'm not sure I should delete them though. http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=10/30311295327.jpg&s=x11

You should use something like Codec Sniper which can diagnose codec problems and remove codecs. It will actually list registered and loaded codecs, tell you if files are missing, etc. There are a couple other useful tools - "Sherlock" and "Gspot Codec Information Appliance" that can help you figure out why your movie won't play.

Also, if you switch to Zoom Player you can basically set up your own codec priorities and associations, its complicated but nice if you do a lot of media stuff.

Personally I like to install ffdshow and try to avoid the hacked together codec packs that often just screw up your machine...
