Quick question about how your picking stocks? Are most of you using online info (picks)? Financials? or Trend Analysis?

I'd pick them based off of press/financials, a good bet is to pick stocks that relate to your industry since you may have some insight that allows you to predict possible future industry directions. This is for example why Ryan probably invested in nvidia.

Most definitely. I'm just curious. When I did this in the past, I found that although not as "scientific", trend analysis seemed to work quite well.

How do you analyze trends for stocks? If its going up, does that mean its going to keep going up? On average this cannot be true, if you look at the overall market!

What you actually want to find is a stock that defies its trend; for example, a stock which suddently goes up. Or you can short-sell stock which suddently goes down. This is where the money is to be made (IMO).

However I am no expert (yet).

k here is a fun story..

few years back i had a TON of nvidia stock.. 13US/share.. right around the time of GF3ultras,etc it skyrocketed to 78US/share!! k well i sold it all and well made myself a nice amount of money .. enough to help buy my house and car anyways.. its back down now at 30US/share.. i bought it again at 17US/share and its up to 30today.. so i'm making money again..

i like tech stocks cuz i follow the industry but thats just me..

                                Re: NewVeeDub Investment Challenge

I try to do a combo when picking stocks, examing news information, stock trading and price history and a bit of financials, which I would understand just dont have as much time. One of my last courses was a lot on efficient securities market theory so I have been trying to use that as well but who knows???
