  • NewVeeDub Investment Challenge

I am not sure if anyone here plays the markets or would like to but I have wanted to try out a simulator to see what kind of gains or losses I can rack up for fun.

I have setup a NewVeeDub investment challenge at Investopedia if anyone here would like to participate for fun and learn the ropes of stock trading while you are at it. Everyone will start with $50,000 and the contest is open ended and begins today.

You can sign up here if you are interested and PM me if you need the password.

Have fun and make bling for mods

      Re: NewVeeDub Investment Challenge

I would enter this, but I have no time.

For those who want to learn the ropes, this is a great way to get started and build an understanding of Markets.

BTW Ryan, do you have your investments managed through an online Broker (ie:Ameritrade), or through a Bank?

Takes a bit of time to get the account updated and you may have to re login, but the markets are closed for the weekend now anyway so do some research for monday

I hope we get a fee more people and it is just for fun, and maybe my investment theory class will payoff but probably not.

I think we may also have 50,000 US and Cad but I am not 100% sure so far but excited to make some trades Monday morning!

                            Re: NewVeeDub Investment Challenge

The key is to diversify, invest early, stay invested, and invest regulalary. 90% of people that try to play and time the market loose money. When you diversify you lower your risk. When you invest regulalary you take advantage of dollar cost averaging. Staying invested through every thing, lets you pick up on times when the market is down(getting more for your money at the time). So you benefit when the market is up or down. The best way to do this is to is a mutual fund with a risk level you are comfortable with. For example a agressive growth or balanced income and growth, or conservative growth.
