Does anyone know any good landscaping places to buy sod here in Calgary? I will need it delivered but will be laying it myself.

Re: Where to get sod?
I thought this was a terrible time to lay sod? Better off waiting till next spring no? Trying to remember the name of the place we got ours - was 30 cents cheaper a foot.

Re: Where to get sod?
Right now is still fine to lay sod. I have even layed sod with snow on the ground. I bought my sod from Manderlay on 52nd st @ Peigan where someone else mentioned. I had it delivered by some guy who called themselves "The Sod Guys". They delivered & stacked it for way cheaper than anyone else.
The only trick with the Manderlay stuff is that it is grown & cut in Saskatchewan & then shipped here so you really have to lay the water to it after you put it down. I found it to be better than the Eagle Lake, and Blue Grass brand sod that we use here at the city.
I would reccomend if you are putting down sod in a new developement that you put down a couple of inches of screened loam before you sod. Generally what happens in the new developements is the developer will sell all the top soil to a company & provide the home owner with the crap that is left over. You may even be able to get the loam free from the developer for "settling", and then phone the dirt company, give then $20 & tell them to screen it.
I personally prefer a sodded lawn to a seeded on. I like instant gratification.
