  • Ahh, dangerous new hobby.....

Well, once again, I've gotten myself into something new to waste time and money on, just this time its a little off mainstream!! I've been looking into this sport for a while, Airsoft, and it basically consists of a bunch of guys who go out and do mock gunfights and stuff, just like paintball, just it includes alot of gear, and more pain! I've purchased a replica Glock 19, and a spare parts gun. The cool part is, they are exact 1-1 replica's, including weight and composition, so there is no telling this from the real thing. That of course causes some problems when dealing with people and law enforcement, but it is legal right now......just don't hold up gas stations with them....

So, back to the Glocks, they shoot BB's (6mm 0.2g composite, or 6mm paintballs aswell), and they are Gas blow back style, which means the whole slide assembly works just like the real thing, you shoot, and you get recoil, and the slide shoots back and reloads another BB into the thing, very cool in action. The best part, they shoot at over 300fps, so enough to dent sheet metal, put holes in all sorts of things in the basement, and create nasty bruises when you are hit....They use Green gas as the propellant, but I'm switching to Propane (same thing, cheaper, little more muzzle velocity)....Now onto pics, as you can see, they are and appear very real.......anyone else interested yet?

I looked into these before and they are pretty cool. You can also buy plastic ammo for them that I hear doesn't hurt to much. There are also electric versions but I believe they don't fire as far. The calgary website has some laws for them and they have to be transported like any other real gun ie in a case in the trunk but last I checked no special permits are needed. BTW if you do pull a crime with these they will treat it just like a real gun.

I am very interested. I go down to the shooters edge a few times a year and blast off a few hundred rounds... how much for the guns?

Video was great.....what a freak! Anyhow, the guns cost about $200-$1500, depending on what....these are considered "secondary" weapons, and you carry replica M16's, or AK's, or sniper rifles as your "primary", but they are usually AEG (electric) guns.....There is a club here in calgary called Joint Operations Calgary, as well as a bunch of places that supply stuff (007airsoft.com, Seals action gear, both in Calgary), and they use the lazer tag places for indoor skirmishes, and outdoor paintball places for the outdoor games.....and yes, they dress in full combat gear, some of them are VERY hardcore.....

I airsoft been looking at airsoft. Namely for these pigeons that keep crapping on my deck & the neighbours cat that keeps crapping in my flower bed.

That location look to me like Douglas Glen, I am pretty sure it is down the street from my wifes friend, granted all the burbs look the same.

You do NOT require a permit for them if they fire under 300 fps.

I went thru all this crap when I brought the two guns I have back from Japan. I have a Glock single shot and a mini-uzi electric automatic.

They are way fun to hurt your friends with.
