  • Damn Telus... (Who wants my job??)

So this morning only 3 of our work stations can see the domain...
Within 30 minutes EVERYTHING is down. Moneris, internal network, external network, EVERYTHING... All I am left with is my shaw connection that runs to my desk only (which WORKS)...

So I have a store full of guys who cant sell or do anything because everything is down...

I trace the problem back to our fiber connection to Telus... Something on Telus's end of the fiber line has poo'd... GRRRRRRRRRRRR

So now I gotta sit here and wait for a Telus tech to be dispatched

It's probably a dilithium crystal failure.

Damn telus is right, damn union workers have been messing up traffic by blocking people trying to drive into the telus building on the street my office is on

What really grinds my gears is the fact that they strike in the middle of july, soak up the sun, play with their dogs and work on their friggin short game in front on their building. Real men strike in the dead of winter.

I even saw one tool who was too lazy to even wear his sign so he had a tshirt made that said "Locked Out by Telus" on it...

edit: On a techie side, if you're machine has internet trye a trace route from it and see where it fades out, that should give you a pretty good idea of whos bad it is

Oh my internal everything and all my servers are fine...
It is my fiber link that links our north location to our south offices that was down... And all the servers live in the south...

Uh huh... AD it is... I think the person who designed it had ADD!
It is the WORST designed network I have ever had the disprivledge of working on... There is no budget to restructure it so I have to make do with the **** that was designed 7 years ago. To top this I have to get a shitty IPX DOS application that runs our entire company to work half assed over Novell with TCP/IP.

You need a cheapie backup Domain Controller at the north location for times just like this.

Gotta love the telus... that's why I switched to Shaw for net and Primus for VOIP. No telus services in my house! They took too much of my money for too long. "The future is friendly" (when you're not around).

Why don't you get yourself informed before making comments like that. The union workers where locked out, they didn't go in strike in the summer because they wanted too. Hell they haven't even had a contract for 5 years! Telus adsl lines have been going down all over the place, that is what happens when you have managers doing a job they haven't done in over 10 years. Ohh and don't expect that to change any time soon.

Re: Damn Telus... (Who wants my job??)

Im as informed as I want to be on the topic. I know what I see and I see them in lawn chairs basking in the sun.

I also know that I get rasies based on preformance, which is how everyone should expect to be evaluated. Anyone who is good at their job has crossed the line (in alberta anyways)..the people still on strike are the ones who need the union to step in in order for them to get a raise.

Did you know that telus offered many of these people training and they turned it down? They wanted job security and a contract but are willing to do nothing for it...

Yea I should rig something out of the spare parts I have laying around...
We recently got hit by a power surge so I have a bunch of internal machines that are dead but could probably make 1 good backup machine!
