For example I think the hip are past their prime. However for "all time" would say the Hip take it hands down!
Now, the Arcade Fire is pretty amazing, I would say they are one of the best canadian shows to see and their CD is amazing. Not reallly sure they are a rock band but I guess popular enough for muchmusic etc.
For this old timer, it's definitely BTO ("Don't Get Yourself in Trouble", and "Takin' Care of Business", of course), and April Wine (their CD "Attitude" still gets my adrenaline going, after all these years..). REALLY going back, there's Crowbar (with Kelly Jay) "Oh What a Feeling"..(what a rushhhhh...). To this day, I am still wearing a Crowbar pendant I was given by my (back then) girlfriend ..almost 25 years ago.. Crowbar chummed around with Canadian bands King Biscuit Boy ("House of Blue Lights") and Lighthouse ("Sunny Days")... Yes, I'm over 50....
Northern Pikes, Men without hats, Loverboy, Honeymon Suite, Platinum Blonde, Glass Tiger, Frozen Ghost, and there was another Canadian Band from Quebec they only had a few hits, I think they were called the The Box?
My cousin played piano/keyboards for the Northen Pikes for the later part of their career. I like more modern and punk style Canadian bands such as Moneen, Choke, Boys Night Out and DFA 1979 is also great and how can we forget Chixdiggit!
