Wedding Reception Question...

I figured I would ask this here seeing as it is a more mature audience than beyond...

I am a groomsman in my buddys wedding tomorrow... I am the first groomsman next to the best man... At the reception/dinner am I supposed to make a toast? Does the second groomsman need to make a toast?

I haven't been part of a wedding party before and I am LOST... I really don't want to make a butthead out of myself...

I would say that there is no pressure for much of anything on the second groomsman and since usually everyone is friends/family I would not feel any pressure to make a toast if I were you especially if you're not into making toasts. However, in my experience at weddings pretty much anyone can make a toast if they really want to especially anyone part of the wedding party.

This is just my own experience though it may vary.

I've been to too many weddings, and been in a bunch.

Usually the formal toasts such as toast to the bride, response to the toast etc are all pre-determined. Groomsmen typically don't have any "official" toasts they have to give. But usually at the end of those speeches the mike is left open to anyone else. As a rule of thumb don't bother unless you have something specific and entertaining to add.

We should have told him that the tradition is for the second groomsman to make a speech roasting the groom...

Usually the best man give the toast to the bridesmaids or something like that. But if you want to do a quick toast I am sure it would be appreciated.

Even better - a roast for the brides parents. Maybe it's not too late? Doh!

It's an unspoken tradition that the first groomsman is supposed to remove the panties of the first bridesmaid right after the garter ceremony. No one really tells you about it because you are supposed to sneak up on her and just do it in front of everyone.

It's a hilarious little wedding game. Give it a shot, and then go hit on the bride. It's a test of her faithfulness right after her vows; just another one of those wacky wedding games.

Thanks for the help guys. I spoke to a few people at the rehersal tonight and all I have to do is sit and look pretty at the head table and in the receiving line
