Coffee In Calgary

Hey all,
I'm trying to decide if I should come down Thursday or Friday for a couple of days to Calgary. Would any of you be around to meet and chat, have coffee and show off your cars while I bring my unmodded 2003 Golf down?

I have friends that live near Heritage Park in a condo there. Is that a safer area of town? I'm worried about my car I don't want it broken into or anything.

if any of guys that like to wash cars want to wash and wash my Golf You can have at her and maybe show me some tricks seeing as I'm all new the waxing part. My Hubby normally washing it occasionally for me. Lately I've been going to car wash where you have to spray it Gawd is that hard.

Might be able to meet up depending on the time, etc. Heritage park is in the SW which is pretty much suburbia and is very safe - general rule of thumb for Calgary, N.E. is bad, S.E., S.W., N.W. is good. Appologies if I have offended anyone in the N.E. but you know your corner has the bad rep! Areas downtown are also sketchy.

There are some tricks to the spray wash places... everyone has their own method but i'll run down mine
- Spray it quickly with the pre-soak if there is a pre-soak setting
- Wash it down with the Soap setting
- Rinse with the rinse setting very very thoroughly
- Rinse with the spot free rinse

A trick to the spray and wash (everyone probably already knows this) is to not let any of the water dry. For example, when washing the passenger side, don't let the driver's side start to dry - water spots will appear. This is especially true when doing the soaping. Lots of people take their time and soap one side, then the other side, and in the meantime the soap is already drying out. This leaves a nasty film behind. Better to quickly alternate sides of go in circles and do many revolutions around the car, keeping it wet until the very end.

Every so often I take a soft sponge and sponge the paint between the presoak and soap stages.

well I plan to be there for a few days probably head home on Sunday if Thursday or Friday is bad for everyone then Sunday may be the best day?

BTW I'm not an early riser, I like to sleep in if I can.

Yeah, I try to stay way far away from Planet Whitehorn aka The League of Nations.

I was mighty pleased when Ikea moved from there!

Yea, I could probably come down for a bit.

How about Westhills starbucks? yes, I know, far for some people in the NW but i'm thinking about a place fairly close and easy for cordialtea to get to (close to Heritage).

Would 7 work for people?

We can leave Thursday or friday up to consensus.

Thursday is going to be a bit of a write off for me with the stag and another dinner that I have to go for... The wedding rehersal thing is at 6 on Friday so after that I would be willing to meet up!

I'm at Frizbee thursday evening 6:30-8:30 but I am not the most entertaining and talkative person anyhow, so I don't need to be there. If its Wed/Fri or later at night i'll stop by.
