I have X and K disabled in town. City only uses Laser and narrow KA.
Khyron
wrong,
the guy running radar on richmond road tonite was running K band. i picked it up coming over crowchild and was wondering what was setting it off as i drive out of there everyday and there was nothing.
that is the one thing i like about the V1 is the bogey counter and the arrows. its true that once you go arrows you cant go back. EVERY detector should have them. what good is a detector if you dont know where the cop is hiding?
this guy was hiding behind a bus shelter...trikcy bugger. i opened my sunroof and waved at him. i bet he thought he was so tricky hiding back there.

I'm pretty sure Calgary cops exclusively use laser and KA multanova (photo radar) for speed enforcement. Thats weird about the K band though, I guess they have moved back to radar.

Well the two cops I know say they only have Laser and use KA narrow for the multinovas. Most aren't even certified on the radar anymore. No in-car radar either.
Now those "You are going this fast" signs use K since they are always on and meant to be wide.
i got lucky driving home today.. cops were hiding on crowchild around the university and i took off work 30min early so i guess i was beating the rush home and the guy was just packing up otherwise i woulda probably got one.. good times
They use these in Sherwood Park. But theyre not trash cans, they look like the grey utilities boxes so it blends in pretty well. They still have to have a guy close by in a van connected by a wire so its not unmanned yet. Doesnt work on the freeway but in the residential areas and school zones where the van can park in the parking lot or around the corner its not a bad trick (but if you speed through school zones you deserve the ticket).

I feel a rant coming on...We have one down here (Medicine Hat) it looks kinda like an electrical box, same color and everything. The van that "guards" it sits across the street hidden on a road or behind a fence. People were so pissed at this thing they were sitting half a block away warning people that it was ahead. Now anyone that does that gets a $420.00 "stunting" ticket! The sad part is the people that were doing this wern't even in their cars, how the hell do you get a stunting ticket when your not even in your car? So we have an intrepid (blue) a dodge caravan (white) and now this box thing. It sucks! Oh yeh "it's not a cash cow" says the city. I would love to see how much they make off of it. Supposidly it was for school zones only. Ha, i've never seen it in a school zone (main streets, highway etc). It is set for 60km's in town, anything over that you get an extra bill in the mail. yeh i'm bitter! Sorry... rant over.
how the F do you get a ticket for stunting when on foot LOL.. personally i'd probably throw a molitof cocktail at the bastard and see if they can photograph that
the dickhead that tries to give me a stunting ticket while i am on foot better be ready for the headache of his life, and better call ahead to the station and let his superior, and his bosses superior know i am on the way. because mark my words, i would make their lives a living hell having to deal with me.
the best response to the A-hole who gives you that ticket is "i dont have any ID on me". without probable cause you cannot be searched, and i would love to see the reason for probable cause.
i have only been here for a few months so this stunting nonsense is new to me. but it is just that, NONSENSE. its a BS ticket for a cop that doesn't know how to do his job. he cant figure out what law you are breaking so he writes you one of those. complete joke.

so they have no in car radar???
no in car radar for Calgary cops, they only use Laser traps which are stationary and multanova (photoradar) which is stationary as well. But watch out for RCMP in town they have moving radar and can tag you in the city. But you don't see them very often.
