  • Need .jpeg Vectorized

So I need to get some signage & labels made up but I only have a .jpeg image of my logo. Does any one know how to create a vector image from a .jpep?

Also, does anyone know a good place to have a vinyl sign made? The punk at the place near me copped some pretty heavy attitude so I wont be going back there.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

Well making a vector image from a raster image basically means someone has to process it manually as far as I know. There is no data in a jpeg about vectors so you're really making it "from scratch" in the vector program... what format do you need for output? How complex is the logo (can you post it?)

I dont know what output I need for this, this is all pretty new to me. Basically I need to use it to have some signs/letterhead/foil labels/new business cards made.

I think that the logo is pretty simple, so making it from scratch may not be that hard, just the beetle bit at the front.

Yeah that is gonna be pretty hard to vectorize, I don't have the tools either...

Signcraft Digital is a really good place to get vinyls and banners done. Talk to Sheila - she's the rep that our office deals with.

As for the logo, you'll need to have it redone in vector from scratch. You could do one of two things I suppose - either redo it as is, or have a new logo design for you seeing as you will already need to redo it from scratch.

sorry OT but gaffer I think I've seen you on the news and front page of City section of the Herald just recently?? Your last name rang a bell when I heard it and I recall someone on NVD being into bugs and such. Next time you are doing something with the media slap an NVD sticker on your face y0!

As someone who bought one of your butterflies (a very nice blue one) I'm surprised you have just white and beige on your logo.

Edit: Andrew is the city entomologist and I believe is in charge of mosquito spraying (where and when). Tips to have extra spray up in my hood?

Yes, my secret is out I am the mosquito czar for the City, but it has been a rough year for us and my mug has been in the media a bunch. If there is a decision on the NVD polo's I will keep one in my office to throw on for the media spots.

As for the logo, I guess it is a bit of a dichotomy, with the company being Living Colours & the logo being monochromatic. I was trying to keep things simple.

And thanks to Khyron, hope you are enjoying your butterfly. The one you bought is my favorite.

                        If you say so.

If you do find an "easy" way to get this vectorized, post it up. I've got a black and white logo I'd like to vectorize sometime too.

Ok I think I found a solution, try downloading AutoTrace from http://autotrace.sourceforge.net/

Attached are two I made into AI format, anyone have illustrator and can test if they look ok?

Ok I kinda previewed both and obviously they don't look very good lol.

I can keep tweaking and try to make it a bit better but I don't think an automated tool will work perfectly

Thanks man, yes it is a start but it is going in the right direction. I am going to work on this too, & see what I can come up with.

I think what I will do is start over & create a vector image, do the text & then create the beetle with one of the tracing tools & put it in there.

                              Hopefully that will work
