    Re: I am getting Smarter!

Ohh Tintin that is just nasty!

Blair- There was a guy from the dealership in Nanaimo I met at 7-11 and I was ooohhing and ahhing at his car and when he told me the Price I just about fell over. I was like Gee that is cheaper than my Geo Metro I used to own. There are a couple of smart cars here zipping around in Edmonton and I'm sure I'm drooling when I look at them.

I want to see a smart pulled behind a huge Camper Because wouldn't that be cool you have the house on wheels but for zipping around town you have the smart.

The more I see those, the more I want one. They seem so practical, and with what gas costs.... it's got me tempted.

Has anyone seen pics of the Smart Roadster. I believe they stopped production, but if they would have brought this here.... I'd love one.

The Smart Roadster is cool. It has a small Trunk that would be so SWEET!

Although I am very impressed with Blair's smart, in the tiny-car-segment, I would still probably take the Echo myself, or opt for a mini if I had the funds. Although when compared the the smart, the mini doesn't seem like to much for your money!

            Re: I am getting Smarter!

Roadsters are so cool I would get one in a heartbeat but sadly none in Canada and the end of the 2005 model year is the end of the Roaster production, which has probably already happened.

A mini is a nice car but they are not cheap, the base price for an S is over 30,000, but they are hard cars to compare. Anyway for those interested here are some sales figures on the compact market and Smart Vs Mini Sales.

I drove a Mini Cooper once (not S) and I was not impressed at all... especially not for the price. I too would go with the echo hatch(4dr in RS trim). I love FourTwo's, but I plan on having kids, and 2 seats just isn't enough for me.

                Re: I am getting Smarter!

see I'm the opposite of you No kids at all in the picture so two seats works great for me. I like to haul stuff though when I go camping and I bring everything but the kitchen sink so An Echo would be the way to go but Gas economy I'm saying the Smart.

Hey Blair does your Smart have its blockheater already? How much total purchase price did it cost you? if you don't mind me asking that is. My other question is the engine loud? I didn't like the sound of the engine on the TDI to me it was too loud which is why I bought the Gas Golf.

As Blair showed off at the meet, the smart has the engine in the back so I am guessing its quiet in the cabin...

                    cool

The Gas economy on the smart would pay for itself so quickly. I showed my Friend Nadine the Car test stuff and the accident stuff and had her drooling so bad. Once she gets working fulltime and can afford another car the Smart will be her next one. For now she is going to drive the 1982 Jetta until it dies. Gawd I miss that car now it is no longer ours. :(

The engine noise is not bad at all, you can hear it but for the most part with the radio and stuff on it is not bad at all. Thats why I think a tach is a must have (optional on some trim levels) because it can be heard to judge the shift points by the sound.

My car came in just under 23,500 including GST and I did get leather heated seats which is a fairly pricey option. However as you said the savings on fuel is actually very significant, I will probably save at least $125 a month compared to when I had my Jetta VR6.

Reminds me of the David Cronenberg movie Crash. She may not be the only one.

I like the smart looks, there was an orange one here in tuscany today, looked neat.....I also saw an echo hatch 2 dr, and it was all done up, center exhaust dual tips, top spoiler (tasteful, like the GTI ones), rims, lowered, tinted, with a mild body kit...I have to say it looked damn sexy, and I hate echos....
