Welcome to two hours ago.....Just kidding man, trying to give you a hard time. Thank god the Oilers didn't get him, they actually offered him more. Oh well, I don't mind them spending big bucks on an injury-prone plug like Pronger!

I'm sad they let Gelinas go - and he's working for less than 1 mil US. I know Sutter couldn't afford 3+ mil, but less than 1? Argh.

Agreed, but you have to figure his time is just about up. Don't get me wrong, he was one of the best in the playoff run, but didn't do enough during the regular season to earn his salary. I think the amount of young talent we have coming up this year had an impact on Sutter's decision not to re-sign him.

Pronger = tough as nails. Id have signed him too!

hand injury is nothing, if he had 4 concussions or a bad knee or something Id understand, but players can still go hard with a taped up hand

When I think of Pronger, I think about when he got hit in the chest with a puck and his heart stopped for alittle bit.

The NW division is gonna be intense this year, I hope we all don't take the shaft

I disagree, a hand injury IS something. Especially when it is the bottom hand of a somewhat offensive defenceman. And remember, it wasn't just any injury, he has had surgery on it 4 times in the last two years. That being said, he is tough as nails, but wasn't worth what they gave up in return IMHO.

They needed the D, and their current defense is actually coming along really well (my buddy's uncle is pete peters, I was at his family bbq with some of the team..pretty coo)..I think edmonton is going ot have a scary ass team this year, fast paced!

but really, this season will come down to who can master the 2line pass thing first

Sure they gave up a lot, but Brewer's been average at best for the past 3 years. Can't really see that as a huge loss.

Wojwytka has been a grade A prospect for two years now, but all that's gotten him is two seasons in the American hockey league.

And Lynch, well he's another young prospect.

Sure they gave up a lot, but this is Chris Pronger my friend. It doesn't get much better than that. Sure he's had a few injuries, but i'm sure he's got plenty left in that 6'6'' tank of his.

I think that you guys are hugely underestimating what the Oilers gave up. I will end my argument after this .

Brewer has been FAR from average the last couple of years. He is a solid two way defenceman who can also throw huge hits...lets not forget he won a gold medal....and I am pretty sure you need to be better than average to make that team .

As for Woywitka, the only reason he hasn't seen time in the last two years (excluding the lockout) is because he was originally with Philly, and everyone who knows hockey knows that Bobby Clarke likes to over-develop his youngsters with the Phantoms. When he was traded to Edmonton two years ago, Kevin Lowe was planning on using him in his 7-man rotation the next year, but never got the chance because of the lockout......What does all this mean....he WILL be a very good NHL'er.....Oh, and I played with him in junior too, and got manhandled enough times to know this .

Finally, I never said that Pronger was a bum or anything, just that the Oil gave up quality young guys for him. And don't get me wrong, I hope he does well with the Oilers. I just don't think his wrist can handle all five years of his contract.

                            Rant over....
