    Used or new?

Used 911 Carerra Cabriolet (Can get a 2001-2002)
    S2000
    Nissan 350Z Convertable

Personally I would take the porsche or S2000, I don't think I would want the Nissan except that if you put a bit of money into it it could be pretty speedy... just not as fun to drive as the other two.

Edit: I know what Boy Racer would suggest... http://www.caterham.co.uk/showroom/sevens/csr.htm

Well if you bought a used porsche from the dealership you would get a warranty.

S2000 then hands-down would be my pick. Definitely over the Z4

I agree with Kris. Porsche or M3.

Both those cars are very highly regarded, and you would be getting both performance and luxury to a degree. The M3 is obviously more functional, but a 994 porsche would sure turn heads.

                Re: convertable sportscars...

For performance, C6 Corvette convertible (400hp), or wait 6 months for the new Z06 (515hp but targa top, not convertible). In my opinion, you can't beat the performance for the price.

For style, either an M3 cabrio (333hp) or an S4 cabrio (340hp)...personally I would pick the S4

For sport, definately an S2000 or a TT 3.2DSG.

This car is a compromise because he wants a Honda Goldwing and she won't let him because she can't ride it.

They are not looking for huge muscle (ie, corvette would be a no-go) they want something with lots of pep and some great style and luxury.

I wouldn't vote for the 350Z, I found them not too well put together, they rattled alot from the ones I have been in.

I would vote the MB, or the M3

Well then I would look at an S4, the MB or maybe a M3 all have power and luxury. The hardtop on the MB could be a plus and has the most power at 362hp!

He should really drive them... I would say this should be more of an elimination thread, what cars SHOULDN'T he drive.

You're pushing the budget with both the M3 ($84000 base), or the MB SLK 55 ($83000 base), even the S4 has a base of $82000.

                            All are great cars though.

Shh, when your already spending that much its not much more percentage wise. That's my logic.
