Yes they are but we are just trying to optimize the price range and not really sure if that price is all in or before taxes which changes things by 5-6 grand. Good to know all the options then he should start driving some and see where that leads.

I'd say the top is $80k tax in.
This is a couple in their 50s.

I would go check out an SLK 350 still, 268hp hard top starts at $65,000 worth a drive I think. Nothing wrong with the TT either though

Boxter S would be my choice, assuming I had to get a convertible.

They mentioned the S2000, I mentioned the Boxter. Bang for the buck looks like the BMW Z4 though.....

How do you figure that? I really don't like the Z4.

The Boxter S has a new or upgraded engine or something now, so it is supposed to be pretty quick, but prior to 2005 it was kinda crappy, and the non-S boxter just plain slow.

In any boxter I would just feel like I was driving a bottom-of-the-line Porsche, which is not how I would want to feel in my Porsche. Like the Jag X-Type. Introducing a more affordable car is nice becase we can afford it, but it dilutes the car's prestige and appeal to me.

Thanks for calling me on that one. I misread my little sheet I was comparing the cars on. The Z4 is nothing too special (except in the styling department).

My preference is for the Boxter. Kris, I doubt you'd be upset if you were rollin' in a base boxter - really....
