  • Need some quick help with Golf clubs

Ok, sorry 2 threads in one day, but I was just checking in the the bargain finder and found a set of clubs (4 irons, 2 woods and a putter I think) for $130. Here's what the ad says.....

"PRECISION II CLUBS, hardly used (training only, never used on course), purchased late last year, excellent condition. Includes driver, 3W, 3,5,7,9I and Acculine putter. Pro midsize, graphite shafts for control. Left handed! $130. obo"

My question is, are they worth it? I don't know brand names or anything, but i'm going to check them out tonight. I know there are some major golf guys on here so i'd appreciate the help.

i'm a major golf guy being a scratch golfer, and i've never heard of precision nor acculine. i say its worth it if you want a beginner set to learn on. its only half a set so its definatley a beginner only set, and seems practically new for $130.. so what can you expect.

check out canadian tire or wal-mart and see how much they charge for their half-sets, this set is probably on par with the quality they have there, maybe he even bought them there.

Precision 2 is the name of a set made by Cosmo, that may help.

        This looks like the website.....
        http://www.cosmogolf.ca/precisionii/

I'm going to look at them anyway but unsure if i'll get them or not.

Oh, and i've had zero luck with pawn shops in the past, they always want WAY too much money for what they have. If you look for sales you can get new ones for almost what they charge.

Re: Need some quick help with Golf clubs

I just got into golf two summers ago. I got a pretty good Dunlop set from Canadian Tire with a bag and more clubs than I knew existed. The irons were oversized and cavity backed - great for those of us needing more in the way of, er, control (as in I suck balls). The whole set was like $200 and, with the exception of the crappier than crappy driver, it did the job. I think they still carry it . . . called Reaction i think.

well I just went out and bought a new set. Went to Nevada Bobs and they had a set reg 450 on for 300, and I got them down to 250 so I bit the bullet, it's a complete set, all irons and 3 nice woods.

I do need a bag still though, so if anyone has one kicking around that they'd sell me cheap lemme know.

Dangit! haha. Well it was kind of a spur of the moment thing, I had gone to Fairmont 2 years in a row and always did a fair bit of golfing with the in-laws, but I never had my own clubs and could never borrow a set because i'm a lefty. I've wanted a set for years so after getting back from fairmont on Wednesday I decided to get a set. My wife enjoys it too (and she's almost better than me already) so it's something we can do.

James, if you think you can get me a good deal that would be cool.

Alex, what's your golf bag like? I like the price if it's decent.

BTW, anyone know of a par 3 around Calgary? I wouldn't mind getting out on the weekend but i'm pretty busy so probably couldn't play a full game.

Richmond Greens or Lakeview are not bad beginner courses.

Douglasdale golf course is pretty damn easy, and Burnco has a par 3 as well.

I can get you a good discount on a bag, take a look @ sportmart.ca and see if theres anything there, or go into sportchek and take a gander

Ya, with discount that would be in the neighborhood of $40. Theres a sportmart right by the KK (Is that where the mid-month meeting is?) so we could go then if ya want
