opinions- 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse

I was wondering what the NVD members thought of the 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse... 3.8L, 5 spd. manual for $23,700. Did they take some styling cues from the 350z Nissan?? Takes on this??

I dunno, I'm not a huge fan of the way it looks, but if you like it, then thats all that matters. The curb weight is kind of disturbing, they weigh like 3600lbs! No wonder they had to put a huge V6 in the thing!

I'm not a fan of the way it looks, the performance isn't exciting. Car and driver was not impressed, and they called it amongst the most boring cars they have driven in a while, and even more boring than the last generation. I usually agree with Car and Driver's reviews, so I might be swayed away from it.

I had a 98 Talon and I loved it (other than the maintenance)...

$23,700 for the 3.8? That must be u.s. dollars. Loaded these will prolly be in around $40,000 cnd.

It does look good, better in person. The inside is nice too from what I saw at the auto show. I was really excited until I heard the reviews, which do say it is not as sporty as it could be, and often criticize the price.

Is it really that heavy? The curb weight on a Mk4 is about 100 lbs less. I guess its a smaller car, and the 3.8L must weigh in heavy. However it has more power than a VR6. I can't really make sense of it...

If they wanted it to achieve the same level of success as the Second gen Eclipses they should have stuck to the I4-t AWD format.

A loaded MK4 VR6 Jetta (probably the heaviest of the mk4s) weighs 3200lbs, which makes it 400lb difference. I have no idea how they got the new eclipse to weigh so much, maybe its bullet proof and lined with lead

I was pretty sure the eclipse weight was 3275 or so?

Thats the base model with 4 banger. The V6 model weighs close to 3600.
